Add internal linking to link buttons in text fields#250

D

The roadmap shows plan to add an immutable ID’s to pages.

It would be finally nice to have a way to do internal linking by using the “link” button on the text/textarea/writter fields. It was such a relief when finally the “open in the new tab” was added. I hope this will be implemented as well.

It’s the main lacking tool in my opinion to fully switch to the blocks fields.

Would you mind helping me understand, what this is about? What does internal linking have to do with immutable IDs? Why can’t you just add a relative link to your internal page?

Thank you Moritz for you message. If you do an internal linking, it would be register with the page slug (https://yoursite.com/pages/myslug). If for some reason the slug page comes to change, the link will be broken, that’s why to me it would be related.

Regarding why I don’t just add the relative link to my internal page, it’s because it’s counter productive, when you write a post, you don’t want to leave the editor to copy/paste the internal page.

I hope that was helpful.
